 About Prosthetics & Orthotics
 
Orthotics and Prosthetics are disciplines that deal with the evaluation, fabrication and custom fitting of artificial limbs and limb supports such as calipers, braces and splints. Orthopedic braces, or orthoses, are used to stabilize or unload joints, normalise motion and stresses on tissue, substitute for muscle weakness or paralysis, and assist in normal growth, development and function. Orthoses can be applied to the head, neck, trunk, or limbs. Artificial limbs are to restore near normal function of the upper or lower extremities.
 
 Role Prosthetic & Orthotic Technician
 
Role Prosthetic & Orthotic Technician (bench workers) are assembly and fitting of Orthopedic appliances, artificial limbs and other rehabilitation aids under supervision of Prosthetist & Orthotist (Category I professional).
 
 Entry Requirement
 

Certificate from I.T.I. in any of the trades of fitter/carpenter/leather. Or

10th class pass min. 50% Marks  with  two years  experience in Prosthetic & Orthotic workshop

The language of instruction is English. Some language assistance is provided during training period Attendance

 
Attendance
 
90% of attendance on 215 Working days is mandatory as per the regulation of Institution authorized by Rehabilitation Council of India If the candidate is lacking attendance in any one of the subject(s), he/she will be detained for the subject(s) in which the candidate lacks attendance but will be permitted to appear for the rest of the subjects in which the candidate is having minimum required percentage of attendance.
